Anna University Removes 15 Mark Questions

Chennai Anna University have recently made some changes in their question patterns for all the upcoming semester exams. This initiative was taken by the officials of Anna University, So that students can answer for 100 marks by studying 80% of the syllabus. Due to the loss of working days, the engineering colleges could not teach the remaining one unit due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 Lockdown.
Changes in the Anna University Question Pattern 2020:
The question pattern of Anna University consists of Part A , Part B and Part C.
The old question pattern of Anna University:
Part A – 10 questions, each carrying 2 marks
Part B – 5 questions, each carrying 13 marks
Part C – 1 question, each carrying 15 marks
As per the new question pattern, the question paper will have
Part A – 10 questions, each carry 3 marks
Part B – 5 questions, each carry 19 marks
Students will have a choice of answering any 8 questions from Part-A and 4 questions from Part-B with the total 100 marks.
This new pattern implies that the students are expected to answer 80% of the question paper by having any four units of the syallabus covered and the attempt questions for 100 marks.
A circular from the controller of examinations to the principals of engineering colleges said: The current students who are reappearing for their arrear examination of current and other regulations will be having the five units for their end semester examination and there is no change in their existing question pattern.
In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, the academic council has approved extraordinary decisions to conduct classes, viva-voce, end semester examinations to mitigate the academic loss caused by the COVID-19 lockdown. Due to the loss of working days the University have decided to leave one unit out of five units for all engineering students. However, the University clarified it is one-time measure and not to be taken as precedence in the circular.
