The pending CBSE Class 10th and Class 12th board exams which were scheduled to take place from July 1st to July 15th have been cancelled, Centre told Supreme Court today. Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta said that CBSE Class 12th examination could be conducted for students who opt for it ” as soon as conditions will be conductive”.
CBSE Board Exams For 10th & 12th Cancelled !
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided cancel the pending class 10 board examinations. The decision of CBSE has been shared as a reply to the Supreme court. Supreme Court bench led by J AM Khanwilkar heard the plea seeking cancellation of remaining CBSE exams due to the COVID-19 lockdown. As of now class 10th exams are cancelled and the results for both 10th and 12th would be declared by July 15 based on the internal exams. CBSE class XII students also has an option to appear in exams or take assessment based on past three exams for all the students to appear for the exams at a later date after the COVID-19 situation gets conductive.
On the later thrusday the CBSE have told the Supreme Court about conducting the pending board exams that was scheduled to be held from July 1 to July 15. Supreme court said that there is no clarity in the notification because of the delay in conducting the exams will clash with the admission process of universities.
The top court on June 17 have asked the CBSE to consider cancelling the pending CBSE class 10th and 12th Board Exams and they have also asked them to allocate the marks on the basis of internal assessment. The Supreme court of India was hearing a plea filed by the parents whose children were to appear in the CBSE Board exams.
On Tuesday CBSE had told the Supreme Court about their intention in cancelling remaining class 10th and 12th board exams are at the advanced stage and the final decision will be finalised by wednesday after which the bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari, and Sanjiv Khanna said they will wait for CBSE board decision and put-off the next hearing to Thursday.
As per the latest bulletin, India has reported 4,73,105 positive cases which include 1,86,514 active cases, 2,71,697 cured/discharged and 14,894 deaths.
In the plea, It was mentioned that the parents have also worried that the board exam could be exposed to COVID-19 infection if the students are about to appear for the Board examinations amid of this rising COVID-19 cases in India. They have also stated that the CBSE board has been cancelled all their board exams of Class 10th and 12th for around 250 schools situated abroad and the board has decided to award the marks based on their practical exams or based on their internal assessment because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
