Coronavirus – COVID-19
COVID – 19 is an infectious disease which is caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.
People infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience a mild to moderate respiratory illness and they cannot recover without requiring any special treatment. Older people those who are already affected with other medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develope serious illness.
One of the best way to prevent and slow down the transmission is to make sure that all the people in the country are aware about the seriousness of the virus, its transmission, its causes and how it spreads.It is better to protect yourself by washing your hands frequently or by using alcohol based hand rub or sanitizers and by not touching your face.
The COVID-19 spreads through the droplets of saliva or released from nose when the infected person coughs or sneezes, the virus spreads to another person when the person is inhaling the droplets nuclei of the infected person.So it is very much important for you to practise some respiratory etiquette while coughing or sneezing(for example – while coughing or sneezing instead of using your hands try using your flexed elbow to cover it).
At current there is no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19, however there are many ongoing clinical trials based on the evaluation of the potential treatments.
Do the following to prevent yourself from the infection and to slow down the transmission of COVID-19:
-Wash your hands frequently on the regular basis with soap and water or by using the alcohol based hand rub.
-Avoid touching your face frequently.
-It is better for you to stay at home if you feel unwell.
-Maintain atleat one metre distance from the person who is coughing or sneezing.
-Instead of covering your mouth with hands while coughing or sneezing try closing it with your flexed elbow.
-Practise social distancing and physical distancing to avoid unnecessary travel and also by staying away from large group of people.
-Avoid smoking that can weaken your lungs.

To avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes – We do touch on many surfaces, while touching you are also picking up the virus and the virus contaminated hands can tranfer the virus into your body through your mouth, nose or eyes when you touch any of these parts. Likely the virus can enter into your body and can cause you sickness.
4.Practice respiratory hygiene:
Why ? To Practice respiratory hygiene – Practicing a good respiratory hygiene means covering your mouth with flexed elbow or with a tissue while coughing or sneezing, then try to dispose the tissue immediately and always make sure that you and the people around you follow the good respiratory hygiene.By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as flu, cold and COVID-19.
5.Seek medical help early, if you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing:
