UGC Exam News Update Today : Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has announced that UGC revisited its earlier guidelines related to University examinations and has decided that exams for final semester students would be conducted by September end. The Home Ministry’s guidelines for coronavirus prevention would be followed, he added. Moreover. intermediate semester students will be evaluated based on the internal assessment.
In the meeting held on monday, The University Grant Commission have stated that, UGC will not recommend cancellation of the final semester examinations, the higher education regulator have decided in a meeting held Monday.
Universities and colleges will be advised to assess the graduating batch through an examination conducted either through online or offline or in a blended mode. The regulator have also decided to pull its alternative calendar and have advised institutions to hold exams by September end.
Students can take up their final semester exams through online or offline, for the students who cannot appear for the final semester or final year examination, the universities will hold a special exam after september. Those students who could not pass the exams will also be allowed to improve. The UGC will soon issue a revised guidelines to this effect.
On June 24 the Government had asked the UGC to reconsider its Guidelines on examination and the academic calendar for the Universities in view of the COVID-19 lockdown in the wake of arising COVID-19 cases in the country.
The guidelines revised by UGC are likely to have an impact on examinations schedules across the country, especially in the states like Gujarat and Karnataka that were waiting for the regulators stand on the issue. However its not clear that the states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh will now revisit their decisions to cancel all their exams in higher education.
